After BlizzCon 2020 was canceled due to the pandemic, Blizzard is back – earlier than usual this year – for BlizzCon 2021. Blizzard actually calls it ‘BlizzConline 2021.’ Expect to hear updates on expected titles, including Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, Herdsteen, and maybe a taste of the rumors Diablo 2 remaster.
Activision, the parent company of Blizzard, announced in a recent earnings call that both Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 would not see a 2021 release. And while that’s disappointing, there’s probably going to be news about game releases this year. A likely candidate is the Diablo Immortal game for iOS and Android phones, which my colleague Andrew Webster had to experience practically.
If you want to witness the festivities (which still have to be very festive, even if it is not full of the usual amount of personal cosplay), you can do so.
When will BlizzCon 2021 take place?
BlizzCon kicks off on Friday, February 19th with the regular opening ceremony at 5:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM, and is expected to last for an hour and ten minutes. Since then, the event has been divided into five different broadcasts, each focusing on a different game. Here is the complete schedule. All broadcasts are scheduled for 20:40 ET / 17:40 PT. If you’re looking for game news, this is likely to happen on the first day.
However, it starts again on Saturday 20 February at 15:00 ET / 12:00 PM. The schedule for day two consists of questions and answers, exhibitions in the community and additional entertainment, such as a Diablo table top campaign presented by the Critical role crew.
Does it cost to attend BlizzCon 2021?
Nope. It’s free to attend, unlike previous BlizzCon events that required tickets. If you want some of the goodies that usually come with a ticket, you can buy a BlizzCon package with in-game items and cosmetics here.
Where can I watch BlizzCon 2021?
Blizzard hosts its online event at BlizzCon.com, or through Battle.net, Activision Blizzard’s game launcher on PCs and mobile devices. It will also stream live from YouTube and Twitch.
