How to use the Wingman in Apex Legends: tips, damage stats, and DPS

Incorporating the Hemlok AR into Apex Legends is always an excellent choice because the weapon is so consistent over medium to long distances. Here are some tips and tricks you can use to dominate other players with the Hemlok.

While you may be tempted to choose the easy-as-pie R-301, the burst Hemlok can be one of the deadliest guns in the Apex Games, especially if it falls into the right hands.

If you’ve wondering about damage statistics, spray patterns and other things related to the Hemlock, then we’re covered. There’s a lot to run through, so let’s jump into the guide right away, and hopefully you’ve mastered the Hemlock in no time.

Hemlock Damage Statistics in Apex Legends

The left side of the table shows the damage of the Hemlock and the right side shows the damage of the gun with single fire.

Not every weapon you pick up in Apex Legends can switch from Burst to Single Shot, though the Hemlock is in that category. Ordinary players will already know this, but it’s one thing that affects the damage statistics for the gun. This explains why we have two sets of figures to work with, as seen in the table above – thanks to the Apex Legends Gamepedia page.

Although the damage may be higher with bursts, the accuracy increases with Single Shot. Keep this in mind when jumping to games. However, the eruption has a chance of killing about two to three if you land it in decent areas of the target. With just a few magazines, you can wipe out an entire Trio if you play your cards right.

Against opponents with no shield, your opponent can be off with Burst fire in less than half a second. Equipped with a level 3 or level 4 shield, even then they can be on and off in just over a second.

The Hemlock will not bounce around significantly like other weapons, but will only lift and return to Burst mode in the same place.

One thing that places the Hemlok AR in the higher Apex Legends weapons is its incredible accuracy. If you thought you had to switch to Single Shot in previous seasons, think again. The accuracy of this weapon at short to medium distances is very impressive.

Things can move fast as opponents run around you in Kings Canyon, World’s Edge and Olympus, so it’s handy to have a weapon like the Hemlok that’s easy to control – once you’ve learned the recoil pattern, of course.

The Hemlok eruption forces the weapon to move up and down quickly. The best way to approach this, for accuracy, is to fire, wait until the recoil returns, and spray again. Be efficient with your rounds here, and you may have the deadliest weapon to work with.

As you would expect, the single shot mode will increase the accuracy even further and the recoil will be very small – if any. The setback here is that the damage per hit is lower, so this is a trade-off.

Apex Legends Hemlok: ammunition and best attachments

The Hemlok is the ideal weapon for medium-range rifle fighting.

As you may already know, the Hemlok takes Heavy Ammo in Apex Legends. If you see a load of it on the floor while looting, be sure to pick it up for the battle ahead. You will not want to run into another team because your ammunition is scarce.

If you can knock out opponents in one or two hits, that’s great, but you’ll have to expand the ammunition capacity of your rifle.

Without any attachments, your Hemlok only has 18 bullets per round, so expect to recharge a lot until you find an extensive magazine. If it has a level 3 extended power, it takes you up to 30 bullets in each magazine. Even better, if you can get your hands on a level 4 gold magazine, you never have to worry about shooting ammunition or reloading.

With the amount of firepower you have the potential to take out full teams of opponents and dominate your matches.

Picking up the right attachments, from floor or outside trays, is the key to taking the Hemlock to the next level.

Heavy Power or Golden Magazine, as mentioned earlier, so that one can take it for granted.

Some optics are preferred by players over others, but in terms of the best to grab this weapon, you need the 3x HCOG “Ranger” of 2x-4x Variable AOG. It comes in Epic variants (purple).

A legendary Water stabilizer it should also be the end goal if you really want the show on the road.

With this Hop-Up attached, you are looking at a 20% kickback reduction, a 30% random decrease, and also a reduction of the visual snout flash. All these three components are ideal. However, you do not have to get the best of the best here to succeed. Even an email or barely would do the thing.
