Video meetings can feel dull and repetitive, especially if you do them every day. Zoom has many tools like virtual backgrounds to help bring things to life. If this is not enough, you can change your appearance with some AR facial effects.
In addition to the virtual background feature, available on Windows, Mac and Android, Zoom’s “Studio Effects” let you change the look of your eyebrows, facial hair and lips. The 3D effects are similar to AR filters found on Instagram and Snapchat.

To get started, update to the latest version of Zoom and then jump into a video call on your Windows 10 computer or Mac. Then click on the small arrow next to the “Stop video” button.
Choose “Choose Virtual Background” or “Choose Video Filter” from the pop-up menu. Both take you to the same place.
You are now looking at the virtual backgrounds and video filters. Select “Studio Effects” in the lower right corner (this can be described as a “Beta” feature). The first time you open Studio Effects, you will be prompted to download and install additional files.
The Studio effects consist of three sections: ‘Eyebrows’, ‘Mustache and Beard’ and ‘Lip Color’. Choose one of the effects to apply immediately on your face.
If you choose eyebrows or facial hair effects, color options will appear below. Click on one of the preloaded colors or select the color wheel to choose a custom color. You can also adjust the transparency of the effect.
If you want your face effects to appear automatically at all meetings, check the ‘Apply to all future meetings’ checkbox.
Click “Close” when done. Keep in mind that the face effects will appear on your video in real time as you adjust them.
That’s it! You can get a little wild look with these fun face effects that will definitely make you stand out in your next Zoom meeting.
