How to stream PS5 and Xbox Series X / S games to all your devices

Is someone else in your household looking for the big screen TV? Want to play in another room without dragging your console around? If you got it right a PlayStation 5, an Xbox X Series, or a Xbox Series S, you can stream games from these consoles to other devices on the same wifi network.

Although you do not need a particularly fast wifi signal to fly into your home, you need to have a stable one to get the best results. If you can, consider plugging your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X / S directly into your router via an Ethernet cable. Turning off other devices with wifi can also help. Here’s how to stream locally

PlayStation 5

Sony offers an official feature to allow you current of the PS5 on other devices called Remote Play. Before you begin, you should have the feature on your comfort. Make the System menu of Institutions, then choose Remote Play and switch the Enable Remote Play switch. Next go to Power saving and Features available in sleep mode, and maksure Stay connected to the internet and Enable to turn on PS5 from network is turned on because it means you can still wake up the console from another device.

If you sorted the settings, it’s Sony’s Remote Play app for your choice of operating system. It works on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS so ut can streamo any phone, tablet, laptop or desktop with one of the operating systems installed, as long as you are on the same local wifi network as your actual PlayStation 5.

For Windows and macOS, you also need a DualSense or DualShock controller to use on your chosen device, so you need to buy an extra one or borrow one from your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 console. In the case of Windows computers, the controller must be connected directly via USB, but Macs can use administrators via Bluetooth or via a direct connection (select Bluetooth of System Preferences to connect a controller wirelessly).

On mobile devices, you can connect a PS controller for your games (recommended) or try using your phone on-screen touch controls (not recommended). Administrators can be connected on Android by selecting Connected devices in Settings and on iOS by selecting Bluetooth in Settings.

On whichever device you install the Remote Play app, you will be asked to sign in to your PSN account. The app should be able to detect the PlayStation 5 in your local network automatically, if you assume you set it up correctly, and after a few seconds, the PS5 screen will appear in the Remote Play software. You can take over the PlayStation controller and the PS5 works as if you were sitting in front of it.

Then click on the gear icon on the open screen Remote Play Video Quality to set the quality at which the PS5 video streams to your computer or mobile device – reducing this quality can help if you are having trouble getting a stable connection. Other options are available while streaming on the mobile applications, such as always showing the screen manager or not.

Xbox Series X / S

Microsoft has even made it possible to stream local streaming from an Xbox Series X or Series S console to a Windows computer – which is rather odd since it’s so simple on older Xbox One consoles. The functionality is in development, but is not available at the time of writing, and although rumors of an update are gaining momentum, there is currently no indication of a launch date.

For now, it’s the same story to stream from a new Xbox console to a Mac computer. It is not originally supported on the Xbox One X and Xbox One S, but you can use a third-party tool such as OneCast to get the job done – this approach will not work on the Xbox Series X and Series S for now.

Until support for local streaming to computers is fully formed and fully functional from Microsoft, you should rather be satisfied with streaming to phones and tablets. On your Xbox, open Settings and select Devices and connections and Remote features, and switch the Enable remote features option.

Next, you need the official Xbox app for Android or iOS. Once you have passed the first sign-in and configuration process, then tap the connect button in the upper right corner (left of the bell) Set up a console and follow the on-screen instructions (unless you have already gone through this process).

Within the Xbox app, You can then tap on the library button (then bottom left at the bottom) and then Consoles. Choose your Xbox and then choose Play on this device remotely. If you accept that your Xbox is turned on and online, you are connected after a few seconds and your Xbox screen should appear on your phone or tablet.

You’ll also need to pair a gamepad of your choice with your mobile device to bypass the Xbox interface. The official Xbox controllers will do well, or you can choose from one of the third-party alternatives that will work with your phone or tablet. Bluetooth accessories can be added via Connected devices in Settings on Android, or via Bluetooth in Settings on iOS.
