Microsoft Edge’s homepage leaves something to be desired. You can not customize it or get rid of the news section. It is also not easy to replace it. Here are the steps to replace the Microsoft Edge homepage with something better.

If you are switching from Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge, you may be accustomed to the wonderful world of home page extensions. Start-page extensions range from simple and nice (like Momentum) to ultra-customizable and feature-rich (like ProductivityTab).

Although you can originally use Chrome extensions in Microsoft Edge (after all, it’s built on Chromium.), The process of installing and setting up a Chrome extension as a homepage is unnecessarily complicated.

But do not be discouraged. There’s an easy way to replace the Microsoft Edge homepage.

First, create the Chrome extension list for the homepage you want to install. For this example, we go with the simple and beautiful Momentum extension.

Momentum Home Page in Microsoft Edge.

Click the “Add to Chrome” button here.

Select the “Add extension” option in the pop-up message.

After the extension is installed, you will see a pop-up window stating that Edge has disabled the extension because it tried to change the start page. You now need to activate it manually.

To do this, click on the three-point menu button in the toolbar and select the “Extensions” option.

Click here for the link next to the “Momentum” extension.

The extension will be activated and your homepage will be changed. You see it open in a new tab. Microsoft Edge will still ask you if you are sure you want to keep this homepage. Click the “Keep Changes” button or ignore the pop-up window.

And that’s it. You have now changed the start page to something different and better.

You can now customize the start page. The next time you open Edge or move to a new tab, you will be greeted by the new start page of the extension.

If you ever want to swap start pages, you can install another start page extension to make it the new default. If you want to return to the default homepage, you just need to disable or remove the extension.

On the Microsoft Edge main screen, click the three-point menu button in the upper right corner and select the “Extension” option. Here you will find the home page extension that you have installed and activated. Select the switch if you want to deactivate it. To remove the extension, click the “Remove” button.

Want to stay on the Microsoft Edge homepage for now? You can customize the start page to remove most distractions and hide the news section so that it is not visible without scrolling.
