If you’re the kind of Windows 10 user who likes to sharpen things up, then move your taskbar to a new location – like at the top of your screen? Once there, it works just as you would expect, including the Start menu. It’s also a great party trick. Here’s how to do it.
First right-click on your taskbar and check the box next to “Lock the taskbar” in the menu that appears. This allows you to move the taskbar to a new location.
After unlocking the taskbar, click on the taskbar and drag it to the top of the screen, then release your mouse or trackpad button.
Once you release it, the taskbar will happily live up there, for as long as you want, and withstand the gravity constantly.
You will see that once the taskbar is at the top of the screen, it works exactly as it did at the bottom, only with a different direction. You can even open the Start menu and it will appear from the top.
While you’re at it, feel free to experiment with other taskbar locations – such as a vertical orientation on the left or right of your screen. Few people know this either, but you can change the height of the taskbar while it is unlocked.
After you finish, you may want to lock the taskbar in its place so that you do not accidentally move it. Right-click on the taskbar and place a check mark next to ‘Lock the taskbar’ in the popup menu. Have fun customizing Windows!
