If you’re thinking of dropping WhatsApp –for any reason—One of the sticking points could be the problem of moving your WhatsApp conversations to another service. People built some smart tools to help you reach that, but Telegram is now launching an official import tool to make the transition incredibly easy.

To begin with, install Telegram on the device with which you mainly use WhatsApp. Set yourself up or logged in to a Telegram account and then switch to WhatsApp. You need to execute your WhatsApp conversations now –an arduous process it requires you to open each one, then tap on the triple dot icon, tap Morea tick Perform chat.

If you are asked where you want to save your chats, select the Telegram app. If you do, you will be asked to select a group to enter the conversation into Telegram. You can also create a new group, if you prefer. Then sit back and wait while Telegram processes your WhatsApp conversations.

The only feature of Telegram’s input function is that it can not assign WhatsApp chats to the exact date they occurred. Instead, your conversations and media files will all appear in Telegram as sent to the date you entered it. Each item, however, has a note timestamp the time and date of the message or media was originally sent in WhatsApp.

It’s a slight clumsy solution, but this is the compromise you have to make in exchange for such an easy way to migrate your conversations from WhatsApp to Telegram. In fact Telegram also notes you can use the same process to move your chat from Line and KakaoTalk as well. I have not heard either chat services, but if you use it, you now have an easy way to switch if you want.

As part of the update that adds this output / input functionality, Telegram also allows users to delete secret chats, groups they create and their call history. both sides of the conversation.
