How to Fix Guilt Gear Strive Beta Error ‘R-Code Could Not Download’

Guilty Gear Strive is currently offering an open beta that went into use for all players yesterday, although it has actually been longer than for players who pre-ordered the game, or those previously accessed by the developers at ArcSystemWorks.

But before the beta was made available for anyone to download on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 yesterday, the beta client experienced serious issues.

ArcSys confirmed that it was aware of the issue GGST unplayable because no one could link to the beta at all, and worked all day to fix it. At about 21:15 CT on February 18, the beta was live and playable again, but went down again shortly thereafter.

If you see a variation of the “Could not download R-code” appears, trying to access the beta only means you have no connection to the server.

This issue has occurred several times since the beta started, even before the server’s interruptions began. Nor is it likely to be caused by internet problems on your part. On the contrary, it’s something on ArcSys’ server side that makes you bounce from the connection.

From now on, the only real solution to this mistake is to keep trying to connect to the game. Some players managed to get in once they tried again a few times, but that is strictly per case.

If you are not constantly connected, it is likely that the GGST servers experience a wider interruption affecting the entire beta client, making it completely unplayable. You can see if ArcSys has noticed a bigger problem the company’s official Twitter or the official Guilty steering wheel page.
