Every iPhone sold has at least one year warranty in the US, while other jurisdictions such as the EU and Australia extend it to two years. You can check in the Settings application when your iPhone warranty expires.

How to check your warranty status in Settings

You can check the warranty status of your iPhone with the Settings app. This will tell you if you are covered under the basic one-year limited warranty, AppleCare +, and if your coverage has expired.

Go to your iPhone and launch the Settings app to check it, then tap “General”.

General settings for iPhone

From here, tap “About”.

Tap In iPhone settings

You should find an option between ‘Serial Number’ and ‘Network’ that describes your current warranty status. Tap to see more information.

This option will say ‘Limited Warranty’, ‘AppleCare +’ or ‘Cover Expiration’. On the next screen you will see the expiration date for the coverage you have.

If your device is no longer covered, you can still get Apple Repair and Phone Support, which appears on this screen. You should also be able to find a link to the Apple Support app for assistance.

How to check your warranty on Apple’s website

If you’d rather check your coverage on Apple’s website, you can do so for virtually any Apple device at checkcoverage.apple.com. Open the website in a browser and then enter the serial number for the device you want to check.

Check Apple coverage online

On an iPhone or iPad, you can find the serial number under Settings> About> General. Tap the “Serial Number” field and a “Copy” option will appear. Tap on it and you can paste your serial number into the box (or paste it from a paired Mac).

To check your Mac, click on the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the screen and select “About This Mac.” The serial number is listed under your hardware, and you can copy it as you would on a web page sms.

But what about other connected devices, accessories, AirPods and the like? If you paired it with your iPhone, you can find it in the Settings app. Start Settings and then tap your name.

Check other devices in the Settings app

Scroll down to your list of connected devices. It can include headphones from AirPods and Beats, the Apple Watch, the HomePod and HomePod mini, the Apple TV and even your Mac. Each series has its serial number, which you can tap to copy.

Understand what is covered by your warranty

Apple’s limited one-year warranty covers manufacturer defects, including poor battery performance or defects resulting from frequent use. It does not cover accidental damage, such as a burst screen caused by a fall. Apple will check certain markers (such as strips that detect moisture inside the chassis) to determine if any damage was caused by user error.

AppleCare + offers two years of additional coverage, including two incidents of accidental damage. The cost varies depending on the device, with the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro $ 200 ($ 270 with loss protection) and the standard iPhone 12 $ 150 ($ 220 with loss protection).

Each AppleCare + plan covers you for two incidents of accidental damage. If you break your screen, you have to pay a service fee of $ 29. For other damages, the fee increases to $ 99. It may be worth checking to see if you already have content insurance or coverage on your credit card, which can also cover incidents like this.
