Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a man who was once considered the next president, is on a downward spiral.

The Republican senator has found himself in the spotlight again for all the wrong reasons after undertaking a bad trip to Cancun, Mexico, during a catastrophic winter storm that killed more than 20 people in his state.

Cruz, the son of a Cuban immigrant, has been interested in politics since a young age. He quickly became an emerging star in the right wing of the party and received attention for his conservative attitude and strong oratory skills.

But his refusal to accept the election results in 2020 as well as his recent trip to Mexico made him one of the most discussed people in Congress for the wrong reasons.
