Kate Winslet’s daughter Mia carves her own path.
The Oscar-winning 20-year-old daughter recently began a career in Hollywood with two acclaimed roles on IMDb – including the 2014 film “A Little Chaos,” which stars Winslet, Alan Rickman and Stanley Tucci. Recently she was seen in ‘Shadows’ in 2020.
Despite having a famous and critically acclaimed mother, however, Mia chose to call her father’s name: Threapleton.

The 45-year-old “Titanic” star said she “always suspects” that her daughter would follow in her footsteps.
“What was wonderful about her was that she had another surname, so she had her first job outside the gate, slipped under the radar and the people who threw her had absolutely no idea she was my daughter. , and of course my biggest fear and of course the most important was for her self-esteem, ”Winslet said.
Winslet shares Mia with her ex-husband, Jim Threapleton, whom she married from 1998 to 2001. She also has a 17-year-old son, Joe, with director Sam Mendes and a 7-year-old son, Bear, with her current husband , Edward Abel “Ned Rocknroll” Smith.

Last year, Mia sat down for an interview with Variety and talked about her role in ‘Shadows’.
“I had just finished school, was free from exam hell, and I was excited, nervous and ready to start auditioning for things, and I was hoping that the opportunities for an audition would come my way,” she said at the time. “I was just hoping I would get the chance to do what I wanted to do for so long!”

The role was the ‘first [she’d] ever auditioned for ‘and the screenplay for’ Shadows ‘was the first the young star’ ever ‘read’, she shared.

“I could not believe my happiness. I read it and did not put it down,” the star recalls. “Which acknowledges a lot because I’ve dyslexia, and that means I have to read slowly and steadily to absorb things completely sometimes.”
She added that she did not spend much time visiting her mother when she was growing up.

“It’s a very different experience if it happens to you, and not just something I would observe from time to time,” the asterisk said. “I really understand why my mother always impressed us with how hard the work is. She’s right! And I loved every second of it.”
