The executive vice president of Houston Texans for football activities Jack Easterby’s days in the organization can be counted, according to Peter King of NBC Sports.
“I think they’ll get rid of him,” King Dale & Keefe said Thursday.
It comes amid months of pressure from fans and the media that Houston should do just that.

Easterby, the former ‘character coach’ of the New England Patriots, quickly worked in an unorthodox way on the front’s ladder, given his lack of football background.
Following a flattering statement from Sports Illustrated during the Easterby era in Houston, there are a growing number of questions surrounding the power he was apparently given by Texas owner and CEO Cal McNair.
Star player Deshaun Watson is worried about the leadership of the Easterby-involved front office. Combine that with legendary Texas receiver Andre Johnson coming out on Twitter earlier this week against Easterby, with several current and former players supporting his stance, and it’s no surprise to speculate about Easterby’s possible departure from the team.
“I think it was a really interesting sign – I do not even know how many people know it – that Jack Easterby was basically told not to speak to Sports Illustrated when the damning report appeared,” King said.

“If that happens, it’s my feeling – and it’s probably an exaggeration – but when I hear it, it reminds me of Scott Pioli in Kansas City when he was really attacked by Todd Haley, the former head coach there. They did not want him to speak. Well, what happens now? Not long after, I forget how long, but Pioli was gone. ‘
It is noteworthy, however, that King did not at any stage say that this opinion was based on sources.
“I think it’s a matter of time before Jack Easterby leaves,” King said. “Why it has not happened yet, I do not know what the answer is.”
