The power grid in Texas experienced a systematic failure on Monday morning as demand rose due to the historic winter conditions across the state.
Network operators have declared an emergency after the record-breaking energy consumption exceeded their capacity.
Interruptions in Texas could take hours, even days, due to several power plants that are offline, according to officials. It is estimated that 75% of Texas’ power generation capacity is affected.
Acevedo asks anyone who sees suspicious behavior in their area to call 911 immediately.
