The 22 lawsuits against Deshaun Watson, the Texan defender, will eventually be played in a court of law. For now, the cases play out in court for public opinion. The Houston Chronicle found that the attempt to win hearts and minds of the average person on both sides led to mistakes.

As it relates to the statements of support of 18 massage therapists, the Chronicle established: “Names were misspelled. Licenses could not be found for some. At least one woman’s license for massage therapy has expired since Watson studied at the university. Giving a massage without a license is an offense in Georgia, where this woman works. ‘

The Chronicle try to contact all 18 women. In most cases, the Chronicle was unsuccessful. (One of them, Jasmine Brooks, spoke extensively with KHOU-11 last week.)

Errors also occurred on behalf of the 22 plaintiffs. Per die Chronicle, lawyer Tony Buzbee misspelled the name of an esthetician who worked with Watson in November 2020. ‘ The Chronicle also could not find evidence of a massage therapy license for a woman claiming to be licensed.

These issues are unlikely to be relevant to Watson’s case or defense in court. However, as the judges in court for public opinion continue to process information and come to conclusions, small things like this can become a factor.
