EXCLUSIVE: More than two dozen House Republics on Wednesday urged the Biden government to weaken efforts to curb the investigation into immigrants and refugees to the U.S. due to concerns about national security.
“We are very concerned about the Biden administration’s plans to weaken the investigation and investigation of foreign nationals into the United States, including refugee applicants in the United States. [U.S. Refugee Admissions Program] and other U.S. humanitarian immigration programs, ‘says the letter, signed by 26 House Republics.

‘These plans, as seen in a number of recent Executive Orders, will lead to the permanent resettlement in American communities of more refugees and other humanitarian immigrants – as promised by the Biden-Harris campaign – at the expense of our national security and public safety . ‘
The letter contains representatives Andy Biggs, R-Ariz .; Yvette Herrell, RN.M .; Chip Roy, R-Texas; Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo .; and Bill Posey, R-Fla.
The letter comes after Biden dramatically increased the number of refugees the U.S. takes in a year from 15,000 to 125,000. Part of the move would allegedly involve reducing the restrictions on the investigation imposed by the Trump administration.
The US is expected to return to the referral system by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The Republicans claim that Biden’s mandate to improve the “effectiveness” of the investigation is actually trying to weaken the screening.
Lawmakers note that the refugee order repeal previous Trump-era mandates, including one aimed at the refugee program, are being implemented in a risk-based manner. They accuse Biden of promoting fraud by encouraging distance interviews via video and audio.

The legislatures also claim that divisions allow failed refugee applicants to review their case file, meaning applicants can “improve” their stories on appeal and expand the definition of refugee to possibly include those displaced by climate change.
“Worse, the Biden government’s plan to weaken the investigation and investigation aimed at relocating more refugees from overseas to American communities ignores the refugee crisis under its nose,” they say. “By this we mean the backlog of more than 1.1 million asylum seekers already within the United States who are awaiting the assessment of their claims.”

The letter calls for an information session on the administration’s actions on refugees and refugees, and both DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Foreign Minister Antony Blinken are requested to resist the efforts to weaken the show, and to continue to build on the movements made under the Trump administration.
This represents the latest concern by Republicans over the immigration movements of the Biden administration. On Tuesday, more than 50 Republicans warned President Biden of a “crisis” of illegal migration to the southern border amid signs of an increase in numbers.
