House Ethics Committee opens investigators to representatives Gaetz and Reed over allegations of misconduct

The House Ethics Committee announced On Friday, it investigated allegations of sexual misconduct against Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz and Tom Reed.

The investigations come amid an investigation by the Justice Department into Gaetz’s trip to the Bahamas with women, and specifically whether the women were paid to travel sex, which could violate federal law, NBC News reported earlier.

Federal investigators are also investigating whether Gaetz, R-Fla., And one of his associates used the Internet to search for women who could pay them for sex, reports NBC.

Gaetz has not been charged with any crime and has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.

Reed, a Republican from western New York, was accused last month of rubbing a female lobbyist’s back and unhooking her bra without her permission in 2017. He later apologized to the woman and announced that he will not be re-elected next year.
