House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, the House 2 Democrat, plans to deliver an ultimatum to House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy on Greene this week, a well-known source tells CNN. Hoyer is expected to inform McCarthy that Republicans have 72 hours to deprive Greene of her committee duties, otherwise the Democrats will bring the matter to the House floor.
The move by Democrats could set a risky precedent because of a sitting member of Congress over views expressed before he served as an elected official – and one that has the potential to one day be used against Republicans by the party.
The House Rules Committee will meet on Wednesday to approve a rule for a decision to kick Greene off the Home Education and Labor Committee and the Budget Committee.
The rule would regulate the procedures for the debate on the floor before the full House considered the decision on the decision to deprive Greene of her committee assignments. This is the first official move by House Democrats to oust Greene from her mandates.
Despite the ultimatum, McCarthy still does not let go of his hand on how he is going to handle Greene. An assistant told CNN McCarthy should talk to the congresswoman first.
Hoyer’s move to deliver an ultimatum indicates that the Democratic leadership wants to give McCarthy time to act independently on Greene before a resolution is passed on the House floor.
It seems that Greene is now trying to return some of these views.
Greene said in an interview with One America News on Monday that she does not think such shootings are false.
“These are not incidents with red flags; they are not false. And it is terrible the loss that these families and their friends are going through. And it should never happen. And it does not have to happen if we were our children properly. do not protect., “she said.
