ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Minnesota hospitals criticize the state’s distribution system for coronavirus vaccines as unfair and leave some clinics and hospitals without doses for elderly, vulnerable patients.
The Minnesota Hospital Association, in a letter to state health officials, says some clinics have not received doses for days.
In January, the state opened vaccinations for people 65 and older, leaving some patients to rely solely on state vaccination sites for shots. These appointments are secured by a state-run lottery system.
The president of the association, dr. Rahul Koranne, says the lottery system hurts patients and the allocation to healthcare providers needs to increase.
