Former US President Donald Trump has criticized Georgia’s recent election law as ‘too weak’.
“Hope the RINOs are happy,” Trump wrote in a statement Tuesday criticizing the law. RINO is an initialism for Republicans in name only. The initialism is an insult to IDP members who allegedly do not represent the political party’s values.
Georgia’s new election law restricts absentee ballots and early voting, restricts ballots and sets strict new voter ID requirements. It also allows the Republican-controlled state electoral council to take over provincial electoral councils that they say are problematic.
“Georgia’s electoral reform law is far too weak and soft to ensure real voting integrity,” Trump wrote in a statement Tuesday. Trump also exploded the state for giving people “far too many days” to vote.
“Election day is supposed to be election day, not election week or election month. Too much ‘disaster’ can happen during this very long period,” Trump wrote. “You saw it in the 2020 presidential election. How’s Ruby Freeman?”

Freeman is an elderly election worker who falsely accused Trump of committing massive voter fraud in Georgia after he lost Georgia in the 2020 presidential election. Trump mentioned Freeman’s name 18 times in his January 2 phone call to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. In the call, Trump asked Raffensperger to illegally change the outcome of the election, saying he would “take on” Freeman if given the chance.
According to Freeman, Freeman’s family experienced harassment, unwanted pizza deliveries and death threats, after Trump and his legal team constantly mentioned her name as a fraud.
Since losing Georgia, Trump has repeatedly criticized Raffensperger and Republican Gov. Brian Kemp. He went on to criticize them both in his Tuesday statement.
Trump’s statement states that the two had to eliminate ‘no apology, widespread mass-voting’, get rid of the dangerous and insecure Drop-Boxes and keep the Signature Verification and EXPANDED to contest against the historic voting files, among other things. “
“Hope the RINOs are happy,” Trump added.
Trump also accused Kemp in his statement of “giving in to the radical left-wing mob” because he allowed the state to maintain the weekend’s vote, suggesting that the left would call Kemp “racist” as he terminated the practice.
“Well, he liked it, and they still call him racist!” Trump wrote.
Georgia Republicans initially proposed a restriction on early voting on weekends. However, many black churches have complained that it would affect their “souls to the ballot box” initiatives that help congregation members vote for church. Current legislation in Georgia requires that provinces now have to vote two days from Saturday and can also offer them two Sundays.
After the 2020 election, the Trump campaign and Republican officials filed more than 60 lawsuits over massive voter fraud, though only in the states that Biden won. Almost all the cases were dismissed or withdrawn from the courts due to lack of evidence.
Two former Trump chiefs also said there was no evidence that the election was stolen. Both former Attorney General William Barr, head of the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, and Chris Krebs, former head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the federal agency responsible for enforcing election safety, said so.
Numerous Democrats and corporations have criticized Georgia’s new legislation as an undemocratic way of oppressing voters. Kemp and other state republics claim it will increase the vote.
