Home paint letters frustrate homeowners in the Silverado Ranch community

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – A $ 2000 home paint job during a pandemic can reduce your budget. Just ask for multiple homeowners living in one Silverado Ranch community.

They are upset about a letter from their property manager asking them to paint their homes or impose fines.

“I was shocked. I was shocked that it was a ten-day compliance letter.”

Mary Koos has lived in the Silverado Place community for more than ten years and says that as a homeowner she has always followed the rules.

She was stunned when she received a letter asking her to paint her house or face possible fines. The letter states that she must respond within ten days.

Koos says other neighbors received the same letter and all are struggling with finances because many of them lost their jobs during the pandemic.

“How are we going to budget it with my husband who is unemployed,” she said.

Koos says her members of the homeowners’ association are trying to help her and do not know that the letters were sent out initially. She estimates that a new painting will cost between $ 1500 and $ 2000.

It’s an investment she says she can not afford right now.

“If we paint our house, we will take away emergency funds and leave us nothing behind,” she said.

According to a property manager from Nevada’s Finest Properties, about 30 homes received the letters.

She says the community was notified that it was time to paint their homes before then.

The letters were then sent separately if not done, saying it was the homeowner’s responsibility.

She says no one is forced to paint their homes on short notice and has granted a six-month extension to one year.

Koos says that there could have been better communication from property management about the collaboration with them.

“I think a follow-up letter saying they are willing to work with them and give it up to a year will definitely help our community,” she said.

Eventually, Koos was able to get a year extension from the property managers to paint her house.
