WB Games’ open world Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy was pushed back to 2022. It would have originally arrived on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X./S and PC somewhere this year.

“Creating the best possible experience for all the Wizarding World and game fans is important to us, so give the game the time it needs,” he said. official statement read.

Hogwarts Legacy was first announced last september as the next project of Disney Infinity Avalanche software developer. It takes place in the Wizarding World of the 1800s, which gives players the chance to guide a Hogwarts student through an original story long before Mr. Potter made the scene.

Months before Hogwarts Legacy has been officially unveiled, Bloomberg reports that developers do concerned about Rowling’s commitment to the project due to her very public and pernicious transphobia. The revelation of the game was immediately brought to controversy for the same reasons, which led WB Games to distance from the author.

World Games President David Haddad later said Rowling was “Entitled to express her personal opinion.”
