Hobby Lobby allegedly canceled its 40% discount by 40 February

Hobby Lobby, an art and craft store chain, is reportedly canceling its 40% discount on its more than 900 stores nationwide and online.

The move, which takes effect Feb. 28, enables Hobby Lobby to increase its efforts to download thousands of articles each day, the company said according to Facebook.

“It offers a better value instead of just a discount on one item with the coupon,” Hobby Lobby said.

Hobby Lobby does not immediately comment to Business Insider.

A number of customers were disappointed with the news, and some said in Facebook comments that the coupon was the only reason they were encouraged to go shopping at Hobby Lobby, USA Today.

An online petition to reverse the decision was circulated on Change.org and was shared on Hobby Lobby’s Facebook page.

“Yes, they have sales, but sometimes you need that extra thing at a 40% discount because it’s fully priced. That’s why we love Hobby Lobby for the little things,” the petition reads. “And do not take it away from us in this difficult time.”

According to a blog by The Karzy Coupon Lady, customers can still use the coupon until March 14 due to the grace period.

In April, the company said it would prosecute almost all employees of the store and ‘terminate emergency leave and suspend the paid benefits and holidays provided by the company’ as it struggled to get its business up and running holds when the Coronavirus pandemic hit the country.
