One of the most intriguing elements of Google Stadiums was the State Share feature, which was displayed during the initial announcement of the platform. While the state’s share was absent during 2020, it will in Hitman 3 on January 20th.
With State Share, players can share savings points via the cloud, but with all pieces of the scene in place. It’s essentially a way to pick up the controller during another player’s key moment, and give the scenario itself a chance to see how it might play differently. These moments can be shared with features.
In our review of Google Stadiums, Chris Plante wrote that “Stadiums do not act like a console or even a platform in the mode of Netflix and Amazon. It lacks far too many of the basic features that we take for granted in our consoles and streaming services. ”
State share is one of the factors that can make Stadia a more interesting prospect as a platform, especially in the arena of Hitman 3. The complex and dense Hitman levels can play out in different ways, depending on which direction you are going, what uniform you are stealing or who you are quietly sending.
It will be interesting to see if this concept catches up and players have to swap their savings among themselves. The slow implementation of Stadia features has likely hampered the chances of this type of community taking off, but the feature still has potential.
