Historic 1880s Victorian house in San Francisco, known as Englander House, moves to new location

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – A remnant of San Francisco’s past moved to a new location on Sunday and you can see that it has a good view.

A large Victorian 1880s was picked up and six blocks moved from Franklin Street to Fulton Street.

Giant dolls carry it about one mile per hour and it costs $ 400,000 dollars. More than a dozen city agencies have agreed to the relocation.

It is known as the Englander House and will be converted back into modern living units.

The move was no easy task. Power lines, parking meters and street lights were removed for the move. and Muni had to divert some bus lines

The house with six bedrooms and three bathrooms still has the original wood and ‘anchor bolts’ from the 19th century.

The mover says homes like these are worth preserving instead of demolishing.
