Here’s how to register for the COVID-19 vaccine in San Antonio

The city of San Antonio will distribute thousands more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, both Moderna and Pfizer, to eligible residents this week.

To date, three vaccine distribution sites have been announced: the Alamodome, the WellMed Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Center on the South Side and the Alicia Treviño López Senior Community Center on the West Side.

All of these vaccination sites will be officially launched on Monday, January 9th and many places have already been filled.

But that does not mean that all hope is lost if you have not yet been able to get a vaccine. City officials will keep the sites open for the coming weeks and more residents will be able to register as more vaccines arrive in Bexar County.

Here’s what you need to know to get your name on the list:

  • In operation from Monday 11 January. The site will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays.
  • To register for the vaccine, visit covid19.sanantonio.gov/vaccine, or call 311 and select option 8. Walk-ins are not accepted.
  • A total of 1,500 people a day can receive the vaccine at the Alamodome site.
  • Anyone living in Bexar County or in one of the other 26 municipal districts can come to the Alamodome, according to city leaders, to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
  • If the appointments are full, you can still stay informed of the opening appointment openings at covid19.sanantonio.gov/vaccine.
  • Operation begins Monday, January 11th. The working hours are 08:00 to 17:00 and are subject to change. Loopins are not accepted.
  • Call (833) 968-1745 to register for the vaccine. The toll-free telephone line is answered seven days a week between 08:00 and 20:00.
  • Even if you can not get through, the city officials urge you to continue calling.
  • For those who do not reliably transport to the vaccination site, the city officials request you to call your city council office for further assistance.

Those eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccines include healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities, known as Phase 1A, and Phase 1B, which include residents over the age of 65 or residents aged 16 and over with chronic medications. state.

These chronic medical conditions include: cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart conditions, solid organ transplantation, obesity and severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease and type 2 diabetes.
