Here, eligible Utahns can make COVID-19 vaccinations

Another 700,000 Utahns were eligible for COVID-19 vaccine on Monday – the first day, officially, that people aged 50 and over can sign up for an appointment.

People with diabetes, chronic kidney disease or a body mass index of 30 or higher were also eligible, Gov. Spencer Cox announced last Thursday. He asked Utahns to wait until Monday to book their appointments, to allow places to prepare for the rush of new business – but some agencies did not wait and began making appointments on Thursday.

So, where do you get an appointment? The Utah Department of Health works through provincial and regional health departments, health care companies, and pharmacy chains to distribute the vaccine as widely and rapidly as possible. Cox said his policy is to ’embrace the chaos’, and he urged residents to keep watching when they can’t get a lock right away. Demand rose on Monday.

In all cases, the first rule is: Join online first for an appointment.
