Several hundred thousand workers in Massachusetts will be eligible to discuss COVID-19 vaccination appointments this Monday, under an update of the state vaccination announced Wednesday by Governor Charlie Baker.
According to Baker’s administration, residents over 60 and certain frontline workers will be eligible on Monday, March 22 – followed by residents over 55 and individuals with one qualifying medical condition on April 5 and then all residents over 16. on April 19th.
The state – which last week fully took into account most teachers – has always included workers exposed to increased exposure by COVID-19 during the second phase of vaccination. However, the announcement Wednesday was the first time Baker’s administration has provided a specific date for when they can start booking appointments.

- Restaurant or cafe workers
- Chefs, servers, maintenance staff, managers, cashiers
- Food, meat packaging, beverage, agricultural, consumer goods, retail or food service workers
- All staff members involved in the production, processing, storage, transport, wholesale and retail trade, preparation and service of food and consumer goods, including farm workers and other agricultural workers, including farm standards and nurseries
- Grocery and Grocery Stores
- Cashiers, dredgers, inventory, drivers, maintenance personnel, security personnel
- Food cupboard workers or volunteers
- Medical supply chain workers
- Workers directly involved in the manufacture and production, packaging, transport, quality control and sale of materials critical to the delivery of medical care
- Vaccine Developers
- Workers directly involved in research, development, manufacturing and production, packaging, transport, quality control and sale of vaccines (COVID-19 and others)
- Transit / transport workers
- Drivers / drivers, servants, sales, administrators, maintenance staff, public and private bus, train / metro, passenger boat / ferries, passenger air and cars (including taxis, car service / limousine, taxis and ride programs) bridge and road construction and maintenance workers, sent ports and terminal workers, commercial transport
- Public works, water, waste water or utility workers
- Utilities: Electricity generation and supply system, natural gas delivery, nuclear power station, water supply, telephone, optical cable / fiber / broadband / cellular service workers
- Public works, including street repairs, street lighting, public park, beach and trail maintenance workers
- Sanitation workers
- Managers, solid waste managers, recyclers, street cleaners, sewer and stormwater system workers
- Public health workers
- Federal, state and local government public health workers
- Court system worker (judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, clerks), other than court officials listed among first responders
- Criminal court workers, including judges, prosecutors, public defenders, private defense attorneys, clerks, maintenance workers
- Funeral directors and funeral directors
- Funeral Undertakers / Funeral Undertakers, Other Funeral Workers (Funeral Homes, Managers, Maintenance Workers, Cemetery Workers, Funeral Homes)
Residents can pre-register for appointments at the state’s seven mass vaccination sites online or through the state’s 2-1-1 phone line. Eligible residents can also search for available appointments on smaller sites, including pharmacies, health care providers and other communities, using the state’s online waxfinder.mass.gov portal.
