The next season of Apex Legends brings a slew of additions to the battle royale, and more than just a new legend and a revamped Kings Canyon.
As usual, Respawn adjusts the floor-mounted pool to accommodate the new accessories by eliminating a pop-up and attachment, but the weapons for care packs will remain the same.
Here’s what changes, what does not and why:
Weapon care package
Apex‘s care package weapon pool sees no changes in season eight. “We want the Prowler to stay in the grooming package, it really gives time to settle them there,” game designer Eric Canavese told Dot Esports. This means that the three weapons for supply are still the Prowler, Peacekeeper and Kraber. The Mastiff and R-99 will still spawn normally on the ground.
In addition, Respawn wants to “let the 30-30 in and see how it shifts the meta” before any changes are made, Canavese said. ‘We go [change care package weapons] if we feel it is the right time to do it and if the meta responds well to it. ”
The last amount of changes to the care packing took place in season seven when the R-99 moved to the floor booty and the Prowler took its place.
Floor loot
Despite the absence of changes to the care package, there will be some adjustments in the pool on the floor. The Anvil receiver will return to the Battle Royale and take the place of the Double Tap Trigger hop-up, compatible only with the G7 Scout and the EVA-8. Gold barrel stabilizers are also out of the picture for the season to make way for the new gold magazines. And of course, there’s a brand new weapon in the mix: the 30-30 Repeater.
ApexThe latest weapon “is going to sit somewhere between the Longbow and the G7 Scout” with a little Wingman there for a good mate, according to Canavese. It has two shooting modes: faster, unshot shots and a loaded projectile when you look at the face. As it is a lever action weapon, firing the 30-30 delivers a flurry of single-fire shots – and the changes to floor loot mean that alternatives to the new rifle are being created.
The return of the Anvil receiver aims, according to Canavese, to create a fun and interesting game around the new weapon, the 30-30 Repeater. The setback increases the damage to the R-301 and the Flatline’s single-fire mode at the expense of ammunition consumption.
“We do not want there to always be 30-30 fights,” Canavese said. “We want other weapons that can compete against it, have interesting fighting moments and interesting options for people to run.”
Gold barrel stabilizers will also be out of season eight to give gold magazines their spotlight. Gold outer drops are hard enough to reach, and simply adding a new attachment can overcrowd the pool.
All things considered, ApexMayhem’s eighth season will not adjust the outside pool. But the advent of the 30-30, the addition of gold mags and the return of the Anvil receiver are likely to shake things up.
