Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office reveals footage of delegates serving after Dolal Idd’s death

As the delegates enter the house, at least two women are seen kneeling with their hands up on the floor of the living room. A man without shirts is seen coming down the stairs and being sent to the living room. A woman deputies can be heard saying, “I have small children.”

During the next few minutes, the delegates are seen gathering the rest of the residents in the living room. In total, it appears that four women, two men and three boys are in the house.

One of the women tells the delegates that one of the children has special needs, and at one point the deputy carries the body with the body camera down the stairs and into the living room.

One of the women asks if the delegates can tell anything about the search, and at one point asks for a shooting in Minneapolis. A deputy tells them that investigators will show up to talk to them and that ‘we do not know’ whether the search has anything to do with the shooting.

About 14 minutes into the video, the delegates begin to zip the adults into the living room. A woman asks, “Are you going to zip the kids?” and a deputy replies, “No.” One of the women called the delegates ‘racist b * tches’ while restraining the men in the room.

A delegate called out and said, ‘Make sure the 18-year-old man is handcuffed behind his back. “He was the only one in the video who was apparently handcuffed behind his back. He was also the only one who pleaded that he be flattened.

About 20 minutes one of the deputies asks if anyone needs medical help. No one answered. The deputy wearing the body camera then walks around and writes down each person’s name and date of birth. The video ends shortly thereafter when the deputy walks out the front door.

The search of the home took place that morning after police shot dead Idd during a firefight Wednesday at about 6:15 p.m., in a Holiday gas station at 36th Street East and Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis.

The camera footage released by Minneapolis police within a day after the shooting shows cars in a white sedan boxing in the gas station parking lot. Glass appears to be breaking on the driver’s side window to the outside, and officers begin firing at the vehicle.

Idd was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman who was in the passenger seat was unharmed and also no officers were injured, police said.

Bodycam video released within 24 hours, part of the emerging trend at MPD

It was the second camera video released this week in connection with Idd, apparently an attempt to maintain transparency following the first police assassination since George Floyd’s death on May 25. yourself within 24 hours. The video of the search command was posted just over two days after it happened.

In a statement, Sheriff Hutchinson said he had made available the video of the raid to dispel allegations that the people in the house had been treated inhumanely. Much of the criticism has been voiced within the Muslim community.

The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) on Thursday released a statement accusing the Hennepin County sheriff of misconduct during the raid and demanding a “transparent investigation.” The release states that the “terrifying home attack … could have turned into a tragedy.”

State Sen. Omar Fateh, DFL Minneapolis, whose Senate district includes the vacation gas station where Idd was shot, said delegates handcuffed Idd’s family during the search and only told them of his death after the investigation was completed.

“This type of treatment for a grieving family is inhumane and unscrupulous,” Fateh said in a statement. “The police have lost public confidence, especially within BIPOC communities. My heart aches for the family of Dolal Idd.”
