HelloFresh has apologized to a customer in the UK who claims to have found a bottle of urine in his delivery box, but they claim the culprit is not working at the company.

The client, sports journalist Oliver McManus, shared the news about the sharp package for the first time on Sunday morning after opening a box with his HelloFresh dinner set. He later tweeted a photo of the offending item – a Coca-Cola bottle that looked full of urine – and asked HelloFreshUK if they knew why he received someone’s bottle[—] with my order? ‘

McManus later told Fox News that he initially dismissed the incident as an ‘unfortunate accident’ and went on with his day as there are ‘much bigger things going on in this world’. But the tweet blew up, and soon HelloFresh responded and apologized.

“I did not think so many people would take it as seriously as they did,” he told Fox News.

HelloFresh has since issued a statement apologizing for the incident and confirming that they offered McManus “an appropriate gesture of will”.

“We are appalled and sorry that the customer received the offensive item. Given the completely unacceptable nature, we investigated the situation and found that the box had completely sealed our facility, after passing all internal controls. We are urgently investigating how.” an open box with this bottle in it was delivered to our delivery partner, ” the company said in a statement shared with Fox News.

But McManus, though grateful for the apology, did repeatedly he said do not want for anyone to be fired over this incident, especially amid the stressful working conditions that delivery managers are likely to experience amid the pandemic.

“I know they said they were going to investigate, but as for me, they apologized to me … and their apology is good enough to draw a line under it,” he told Fox News. “I will be disappointed if more action is taken.”

A delivery company representative who downloaded McManus’ dinner set was not immediately available to comment on any disciplinary action they plan to take.
