HEB launches registration portal for COVID-19 vaccines, but is still waiting for more doses

SAN ANTONIO HEB has launched a registration portal on its website for people who want to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but there are no slots available because the pharmacies are still waiting for more doses.

Registration will be made available as soon as the HEB receives more awards of the vaccine.

HEB currently has no COVID-19 vaccines, but the Texas grocer has applied to receive more.

‘Once we have the vaccine, customers can log on to the site. We have no new vaccine award at the moment, ”spokesperson Dya Campos told KSAT.

All previous vaccines given to HEB were administered to qualifying customers in Phase 1A, which includes healthcare workers, nursing home workers and residents of long-term care facilities, as well as customers in Phase 1B, which includes 65 and older, and people 18 and older with at least one chronic disease, according to the website.

HEB has not yet accepted Phase 1C qualifying customer appointments, which include essential frontline workers and Phase 2, which includes the general public.

Pharmacies still do not accept access as soon as HEB receives more allocation of the COVID-19 vaccine due to the fragile shelf life of the vaccine, which according to HEB officials should be used within a few hours after opening a new vial. Each Covid-19 vaccine tube has 10 doses.

All vaccines previously assigned to HEB have been administered. Campos told KSAT in early January that “once the offer becomes more readily available, we are ready to help vaccinate our communities on a large scale.”

HEB has requested more COVID-19 vaccines from the state of Texas, and there will be no cost associated with receiving a COVID-19 vaccine from the grocery store.
