Hear new song by a toddler with sounds recorded in the womb

Sacred Bones has announced the release of a new debut album by toddler Luca Yupanqui and a video for her new song “V4.3 pt. 2,” as Haystack reports. Properly titled Sounds of the unborn, the MP was recorded while Luca was in the womb. The album will be released on April 2nd.

The music video of the meditative song contains Super 8 recordings shot during the recording sessions, which artist Victoria Keddie later processed with analog equipment.

Sounds of the unborn was made using ‘biosonic MIDI technology’ to translate Luca’s movements into musical notes sent to synthesizers. According to the video description, the parents of the toddler, Elizabeth Hart and Iván Diaz Mathé, who collaborated with Lee “Scratch” Perry, linked the technology to Hart and “rewrote its vibrations in the synthesis of Iván.”

They record five-hour sessions and the couple “edit and mix the results of the sessions, respecting the sounds as they are produced, and try to intervene as little as possible so that Luca’s message can exist in its raw form.”
