Healthcare worker hospitalized after allergic reaction to COVID-19 vaccine

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Oregon health care worker has been admitted to hospital after suffering a severe allergic reaction to the Modern COVID-19 vaccine.

The Oregon Health Authority says the employee at Wallowa Memorial Hospital experienced anaphylaxis after receiving a first dose of the vaccine this week.

The health authority has said that COVID-19 vaccines can cause mild to moderate side effects in some people. These can include pain and swelling in the arm and sometimes fever, chills, fatigue and headaches.

In rare cases, some people have experienced severe allergic reactions.

Health officials will continue to detect adverse reactions. To date, 38,698 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered since Oregon on December 13th.
