Health workers sitting in the snow go car after car to give COVID wax

These health workers kept it cool.

A medical team in Oregon jumped into action after getting caught in a snowstorm with the dose of COVID-19 vaccine about to expire.

The “improvised clinic” came after the 20 health workers stopped in traffic on the snowy Highway 199 near Hayes Hill, Josephine County Public Health said Tuesday.

The group had just completed a coronavirus mass vaccination event at a local high school and had six doses left to administer at the end of the day.

Other recipients of the shots have been identified, but ‘the snow meant the doses would not reach it until it expired’, the health department said on Facebook.

The staff do not want them to perish, and walk from vehicle to vehicle, offering people the chance to get the vaccine, with a land ambulance on hand for safety.

All six doses were administered, including to a sheriff’s office in Josephine County who arrived too late for the vaccination clinic and eventually ran aground with the others.

Mike Weber, director of public health in Josephine County, said it was “one of the coolest surgeries” he participated in.
