Health District calls backlog more positive for COVID-19 in Spokane

SPOKANE, was. – The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Spokane County continues to grow.

Another 362 people tested positive for the virus in Spokane on Saturday, according to the most recent update from the Spokane Regional Health District.

According to a graph on the health district’s website, which breaks down new cases per day, an additional 671 people tested positive for COVID-19 just the day before.

The increase is likely due to a backlog in business reporting. According to the SRHD, an error in electronic reporting caused a delay in reporting about 300 results until as early as December 2nd.

Part of the backlog was 200 cases related to the Airway Heights Corrections Center, the SRHD said.

“In addition to overdue cases, the current data peak indicates that SRHD continues to see an increase in cases related to community dispersal, which in turn infiltrates municipal institutions, such as long-term care institutions, despite mitigation efforts,” it said in a release. from the health district.
