HBO Max announces new adult animation programs, including a story by Velma Dinkley Origin

HBO Max has announced series orders for three new adult animation programs, including a Scooby-Doo spinoff that will tell the origin story of Velma Dinkley, and a revival of Clone High. The original and comic series, aptly titled Velma, will unmask the complex. and colorful past of the underrated brain of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang, Velma Dinkley, voiced by executive producer Mindy Kaling (The Office). Charlie Grandy, Howard Klein and Sam Register also serve as executive producers of the series of ten episodes produced by Warner Bros. Animation is produced.

In addition to Velma, HBO Max ordered two seasons of Clone High, a remake of the 2002 series of Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence at a clone high school of historical figures. In addition to writing the series, Lord and Miller will once again work with Lawrence to serve as executive producers of the MTV revival, with Erica Rivinoja as showrunner.

The streaming company further supplemented its adult animation page with Nate Sherman and Nick Vokey’s Fired on Mars, an existential on-the-job comedy on the Mars campus of a modern tech enterprise; SNL’s Pete Davidson will give his voice to one of the characters. HBO Max also animated JG Quintel’s comedy Close Enough for Adults for two more seasons.
