Hawks, who send the full award to Trey Lance’s second pro day, have picked calls for number 4

The Falcons are not on the clock yet. But they could make a decision on the number 4 before the draft.

For that purpose, they will send a full three-person award to quarterback Trey Lance’s second pro day Monday in North Dakota State, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported. Atlanta attended a separate trio of coaches / scouts who attended Lance’s first pro day, allowing the gaze maximum to explore the prospects of the first round.

The team followed the same approach with Justin Fields’ pro days. One or both of the QB figures available at number 4. While the top three teams (Jaguars, Jets, 49ers) are openly committed to taking signal callers, the Falcons remain a mystery.

They could decide to trade, and Pelissero noted that they had received calls about the fourth overall pick. Such a move could help fill a list that has fallen sharply since the franchise’s Super Bowl series was hosted four years ago. Atlanta, however, already has nine choices in this draft, and to stay means their favorite prospect outside of QB will be there.

Of course, this is a unique opportunity to pick Matt Ryan’s successor with the luxury of putting him on for some time. Lance is, interestingly enough, widely regarded as the best of the best QB prospects, but perhaps with a higher ceiling than others. The new general manager, Terry Fontenot, said earlier this week that he wanted to “stack good quarters” and that the concept was “the best time to do it”.

Therefore, they evaluate their options thoroughly if they keep the choice, Pelissero added. There seem to be a lot of good choices.
