Recipients of an unemployment pandemic in Hawaii will receive more than twice as much as $ 300 next week.
The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations said today that programming updates and federal funding have enabled the department to begin benefit payments for PUA claimants eligible for the week ending January 2, which will process this weekend.
Eligible claimants who make claims this Sunday for the week ending January 9 will also process their claims, including the amount of $ 300 plus, and receive the payment in the middle of the week.
The Department of Labor said it is working diligently to build additional programs within its unemployment computer system to process the other revised federal benefits and provide the necessary relief to qualifying claimants. Any delayed benefits will, if necessary, be paid out retroactively, and the plaintiffs will be made whole.
DLIR said it would make announcements via its website, news reports, in the unemployment insurance portal and on bit.ly/3hXwB7a, as it implements provisions of the COVID-19 bill.
DLIR also noted that none of the PUA benefits or unemployment benefits of any kind are available to employees who are terminated due to the case, terminate their employment without good reason, refuse to return to work or refuse to receive full-time pay.
DLIR said that attempts to collect benefit payments in these situations could be considered fraudulent and that job separation investigations were part of the process of establishing.
