Hawaii Department of Health officials today reported 47 new coronavirus infections, bringing the state’s total to 27,270 cases since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials did not report any additional deaths today as the number of deaths associated with the coronavirus remains at 431.

The state’s official death toll includes 344 deaths on Oahu, 53 on Hawaii Island, 30 on Maui, one on Kauai and three Hawaii residents who died outside the state.

The US coronavirus mortality rate currently stands at more than 501,000 and the countrywide infection is more than 28.2 million.

Officials said the health department reported new cases of new infections across the country, 27 on Oahu, 17 on Maui and three residents diagnosed outside of Hawaii.

The statistics released today reflect the new infection cases reported to the department on Sunday.

The total number of coronavirus cases per island since the onset of the outbreak is 21,829 in Oahu, 2,234 in Hawaii, 2,071 in Maui, 181 in Kauai, 108 in Lanai and 27 in Molokai. There are also 820 residents of Hawaii who have been diagnosed outside the state.

Health officials also said today that 693 cases of the state’s total infection count are considered active. Officials say they view infections reported over the past 14 days as a ‘proxy number for active cases’. The number of active cases in the state increased by ten today.

Per island, Oahu has 457 active cases, Maui has 200, the Big Island 33, Molokai has two and Kauai has two, according to the state’s latest version. Lanai has no active business.

Health officials counted 784 new COVID-19 test results in today’s score, with a positive percentage of 6% nationwide. The state’s 7-day average positivity rate is 1.1%, according to the Hawaii COVID-19 Data dashboard.

Of all the confirmed cases of Hawaii infection, 1840 required hospitalizations, with six new hospitalizations reported to Oahu today by health officials.

Five counties in the county are Hawaii residents who have been diagnosed and treated outside the state. Of the 1,835 hospitalizations in the state, 1,601 were on Oahu, 119 on Maui, 102 on the Big Island, seven on Kauai, five on Lanai and one on Molokai.

According to the latest information from the department’s COVID-19 Data Dashboard, a total of 37 patients with the virus were in Hawaii hospitals as of Monday morning, with seven in intensive care units and six in ventilators.

About 13.6% of the general population received at least one dose of the vaccine, while approximately 59% of those aged 75 years and older also received one dose.
