Hawaii sees 4 new coronavirus-related deaths on Oahu and 134 infections across the country, with a total of 25K

Health officials in Hawaii today reported four new coronavirus-related deaths and 134 new infections, bringing the total to 336 deaths and 25,003 cases since the start of the pandemic.

No further details were immediately available regarding the latest deaths associated with the coronavirus on Oahu.

The state’s official death toll includes 266 deaths on Oahu, 45 on the island of Hawaii, 21 on Maui, one on Kauai and three Hawaii residents who died on the continent. The Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency said the COVID-19 death toll on the Big Island remained at 51, but state officials did not confirm coronavirus as a factor in six of the deaths. Hawaii County has not reported any coronavirus-related deaths in the past three weeks.

The US death toll from coronavirus today was more than 416,000.

Officials said the new health infections were reported today by the Department of Health, 105 on Oahu, 21 on Maui, two on the Big Island, and six residents diagnosed outside of Hawaii. Due to updated information, one Oahu case was removed from the charges.

The statistics released today reflect the new infection cases reported to the department on Thursday.

Hawaii health officials said Friday they are currently investigating five COVID-19 clusters at correctional facilities, educational institutions, unidentified restaurants and food vendors on Oahu; seven bunches that include construction and industrial environments, as well as apartment complexes in Maui County; and a travel-related group in Hawaii County. No clusters were investigated for Kauai Province.

The total number of coronavirus cases per island since the onset of the outbreak is 20,334 in Oahu, 2,115 in Hawaii, 1,571 in Maui, 177 in Kauai, 106 in Lanai and 25 in Molokai. There are also 675 residents of Hawaii who have been diagnosed outside the state.

Health officials also said today that 1,736 cases of the state’s total infection count are considered active. Officials say they view infections reported over the past 14 days as a ‘proxy number for active cases’. The number of active cases in the state decreased by 102 today.

Per island, Oahu has 1,272 active cases, Maui has 324, the Big Island has 121, Kauai has 19, according to the latest version of the state. Lanai and Molokai have no active COVID cases.

Health officials counted 4,974 new COVID-19 test results in the current score, for a positive rate of 2.69% nationwide. The state’s 7-day average positivity rate is also 2.5%, according to the Hawaii COVID-19 Data dashboard.

Of all the confirmed cases of Hawaii infection, 1,657 required hospitalizations, with ten new hospitalizations reported today by state health officials.

Four counties in the census are Hawaii residents who have been diagnosed and treated outside the state. Of the 1,653 hospitalizations in the state, 1,449 were on Oahu, 97 on Maui, 94 on the Big Island, seven on Kauai, five on Lanai and one on Molokai.

According to the latest information from the department’s COVID-19 Data Dashboard, as of Friday morning, there were a total of 96 patients with the virus in Hawaii hospitals, with 21 in intensive care units and 18 on ventilators.

Health officials said 70,095 vaccines were administered out of the 154,150 the state received on Jan. 18. The vaccinations per country are Honolulu, 39,886; Maui, 10 195; Hawaii, 7,011; and Kauai, 5,328. The total also included 7,675 administered under the federal pharmacy program. Government officials announce the updated vaccination numbers every Wednesday.

Oahu moved to the less restrictive Level 2 of Honolulu’s four-tier economic recovery plan on October 22. To determine if Honolulu is going to move to another level, the city takes a “weekly review” of two major COVID-19 numbers every Wednesday. . To move to Level 3 from Level 2, the average of 7 days on two consecutive Wednesdays must be below 50. The average positivity rate of 7 days should also be below 2.5% on these two Wednesdays.

According to Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi, the mayor of Oahu says 76 for seven days today and the seven-day positive percentage is 3.0%.

Blangiardi said last week he hopes to stay in Tier 2, a four-story framework set up by former Mayor Kirk Caldwell. Under Tier 3, social gatherings of up to 10 were allowed, compared to 5 under Tier 2, and retail businesses will be able to operate at full capacity, rather than 50% under Tier 2.
