Happy Gilmore, the protagonist of the 90s hit movie of the same name, played by actor Adam Sandler, took to Twitter to make his brand run and swing.
The rise of one of Sandler’s great characters is the celebration of the film’s 25th anniversary, and he took the opportunity to lure his patriarch Shooter McGavin out of the shadows.
’25 years since I did that, ‘he announced. “I am scared!”
Shooter McGavin, a rival of Gilmore in the film, played by Christopher McDonald, never fell back.
“It’s about the short game,” he declared. “Ride for show, sit for the dough!”
Award-winning actor Ben Stiller, who played the bad nursing home owner who – very badly – cares for Gilmore’s grandmother, responded to Sandler’s video.
The hit movie became a comedy reference point in pop culture when it was released in 1996, with both sports and movie lovers celebrating their legacy.
“The golf legend goes on forever,” he said.
