In an effort to provide some coverage for Republican Senator Ted Cruz, Fox News opinion leader Sean Hannity on Thursday gave a more flattering and yet false version of Cruz’s very ridiculous trip to Mexico.

The screaming began Wednesday when photos appeared of Cruz traveling with his family to Cancun. After the trip became national news, Cruz issued a statement trying to keep Hannity.

Although Hannity gave him an outing, Cruz followed an amended report of his journey in the interview.

Earlier, Hannity said he and Cruz, along with Gov. Greg Abbott, knew how bad the cold wave would be.

The Fox News host stuck to Cruz’s initial story, although it was clear Cruz was planning to spend several nights in Cancun, but eventually flew back in less than 24 hours amid growing criticism of his decision to take a trip while millions of Texans without power and water in freezing temperatures.
Insider also received text messages from a group conversation showing that Cruz’s wife, Heidi, is proposing a trip and planning to escape the cold.

In the interview, Cruz said he worked with Abbott before the storm and that he and Heidi, along with millions of Texans, lost power.
“A lot of Texans are crazy, they’re dirty,” Cruz said. “How can it be that Texas, the energy capital of the world, can not turn on our lights and heat our homes? Many Texans are frustrated. That should not have happened.”
For Fox News viewers, the answer to the question involved many misleading allegations about renewable energy in Texas.
Hannity praised Texas’ separate energy network, saying it “should not meet the federal government’s strict regulations.”
