Hamptons stable owner says she was upset to make room for Alec and Hilaria Baldwin

A stable owner in the Hamptons has expressed regret that she was evicted from the business she had ‘driven out’ for 20 years to make way for neighbors Alec and Hilaria Baldwin’s charity for horses.

Jan Warner, 60, told the New York Post in an interview published Saturday that she had to shut down ‘Jan’s Barn’ in 2017 after the landlord demanded an annual rent in advance.

Today, the property is rented by the Baldwins, who stall rescue horses and also rent stalls to their wealthy friends for $ 1,500 a month, and is run by Pat Granfield, a good friend of Hilaria.

Warner lamented that she had lost her long-standing business, and suggested that her wealthy neighbors might dismiss her by saying, “I think Alec and Hilaria do not like the fact that I did not have this impeccable, perfect place.”

Warner said she paid $ 2,000 a month rent for the stalls in Amagansett through a handshake deal with landlord Job Potter. But in 2017, Potter suddenly asked for a year’s rent in advance, Warner said.

“I could not pay the whole year in advance, and he knew it,” Warner told the Post, saying she believed it was the “landlord’s” way of getting rid of me. ‘

An attorney for the Baldwins told the newspaper that the couple had nothing to do with Warner’s departure.

The lawyer claims Potter had problems with her ability to keep track of the rent and that ‘it was common knowledge throughout the area that the property was not maintained in a habitable condition, but rather was in a bad condition, and poses dangerous risks. ‘

People who rode with Warner on their horses at the barn deny it, saying that although the barn was not pristine or Hamptons-chic, it was welcomed and loved by rich and poor.

“There is no one I would trust my horses more than Jan Warner,” investment banker Kelley Foster told the Post. Warner now lives in a trailer park in East Hampton and works for Foster in a private stable.

Warner had known Granfield before, because Warner had allowed her to stable her horses and give horseback riding there.

“The two of them are really tight and both are a wonderful toit,” Warner said of Granfield and Hilaria, saying Granfield was a regular guest of the Baldwins and boasted that he had the ‘best rosé’ with the couple. .

Warner and her friends call Granfield ‘Equine Barbie’ and claim her knowledge of horses is inferior to that of Warner.

Granfield told the Post about her work in the Baldwin stables: “I would say we only do simple and good work for animals and the community.”

The stable controversy over the East End comes after Alec apparently left Twitter last week amid the fallout from wife Hilaria’s ongoing Spanish heritage scandal.

The 62-year-old SNL actor posted a tweet on January 18, saying: ‘Twitter is like a party where everyone is screaming. Not much of a party. Goodbye for now. ‘

The Oscar-nominated candidate’s departure from the social media site is the latest installment of the scandal surrounding his wife and mother of their five children, Hilaria, who is accused of expiring her Spanish heritage when she was in Boston, Massachusetts, was born.

The 30-year-old rock star has previously defended his 36-year-old wife and said in a video in December calling Twitter ‘very s ***’.

Baldwin, who previously won an Emmy for his portrayal of President Donald Trump on SNL, added: ‘You have to kind of hack through the rubble of Twitter. Twitter is just a big orchard **. ‘

On January 3, Chynna Phillips, Hilaria Baldwin’s sister-in-law, defended herself in a YouTube video on Tuesday, saying, “This is an awkward and embarrassing time for her.”

The online frenzy began on December 21 when a woman tweeted: “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade – long experience of imitating a Spanish person.”

In the next few days, several videos of Hilaria’s previous TV appearances resurfaced showing her commitment to a Spanish accent, including one in 2015, where she apparently forgot the English word for ‘cucumber’.

A video of Alec on The Late Show in 2013 surfaced days in which he mimicked his wife’s’ Spanish ‘accent and told David Letterman:’ My wife is from Spain. ‘

And Hilaria herself indicated in one 2020 interview that she moved from Spain to the US when she was 19 to attend New York University.

Hilaria’s biography on her agency’s speaker website states that she was born on the island of Majorca and grew up in Boston without specifying a timeline for her education.

Her agency later removed the reference and merely listed her professional work history thereafter.

While Hilaria has long described her mother as Spanish, it turns out that Hayward is in fact a fourth-generation Massachusetts resident.

She was born Hillary Hayward-Thomas to Dr. Kathryn Hayward and David Thomas, who worked as professors in the U.S. for many years before retiring from Mallorca in 2011, according to Page Six.

She attended $ 64,900 a year at the Cambridge School of Weston in Massachusetts.

Several former classmates came forward to confirm that Hilaria in Weston, Massachusetts, was raised by professor parents without a hint of a foreign accent.

Mallorcan friends of her parents, who moved to the Spanish island in 2011, said last month that she spoke to them in English.

In January, it was revealed that in 2009 she had made two attempts to fill out her W9 tax form, between two names, before filling in the name she was born with.
