Halo 7 does not seem to be happening anytime soon

As part of a recent Halo Infinite question-and-answer session with 343 Industries’ Quinn DelHoyo, working with the Sandbox team at the developer, DelHoyo explained how the developer plans to add new weapons and features and the video game in general to work after release. Although he does not come out immediately and says “do not expect Halo 7 to be released soon, he explicitly says that the developer does not intend to release Halo Infinite and just move on to the next thing.

“Something we’m very excited about is that it’s not just a Halo game that we’re going to take out and then finish with the next Halo title,” DelHoyo said as part of a larger response around 14 minutes into the video on the role of Halo Infinite‘s Bulldog shotgun and how other weapons fit into it, “but we’ll always see how we keep updating this game.”

The idea that Halo Infinite will receive several, continuous updates after its release is not exactly shocking. More and more, video games – especially those with multiplayer elements – have seen a shift towards something like a live service platform rather than a fully encapsulated version. The Halo Infinite people playing during the launch can probably differ significantly from those people play a year later. These are also longer periods where no new installment of a video game franchise is released. Consider, for example, the continuing relevance of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online.

Halo Infinite is currently being released later this year for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. The Xbox Series X | S is currently available for $ 399 and $ 299 respectively, if you can find one of them anywhere in stock. You can see all our previous coverage of the upcoming Halo title here.
