About 32% of adults are now fully vaccinated, the agency said.

Half of Americans over the age of 18 received at least one COVID-19 vaccination shot, according to data released Sunday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There were nearly 130 million adults in the country who received one shot, about 50.4% of the population older than 18, the agency reported.

At least 83.9 million adults, about 32.5% of the adult population, have been fully vaccinated as of Sunday, the CDC said.

The data comes as more states qualify for all residents over the age of 16.

It also comes as states interrupt their administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine with one shot, which is being investigated by the Food and Drug Administration and CDC over rare reports of possible blood clots.

As of Sunday, CDC data shows more than 209 million vaccine doses in the country. According to the CDC, at least 109 million doses of Pfizer, 92 million doses of Moderna and 7.9 million doses of Johnson & Johnson have been administered.

Health officials and leaders are urging all eligible Americans to plan their shots as soon as possible, to reduce the number of cases and to limit the spread of the virus.
