Half of American adults received at least one dose of COVID vaccine

Half of U.S. adults have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday.

Nearly 130 million people, or about 50.4 percent of the total adult population, received at least one vaccine shot, the CDC said.

Meanwhile, nearly 84 million adults – about 32.5 percent of the population – have been fully vaccinated, the agency said.

Two vaccines are currently available – a two-dose survey by Pfizer, another two-dose survey by Moderna – after federal regulators temporarily halted the use of a third, a single dose by Johnson & Johnson, in response on reports of rare blood clots.

Federal officials have yet to determine if the vaccine will cause the blood clotting issues.

But dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that he believes regulators will resume the use of shots this week, possibly with restrictions or warning.

“I would be very surprised if we do not resume in some form by Friday,” he said on CBS ‘Face the Nation. “I do not really expect them to stretch it any longer.”
