Half of all U.S. adults have now received at least one dose of Covid-19, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, which is a major milestone in the country’s largest vaccination campaign.

According to the CDC, more than 129 million people aged 18 and over received at least one shot, or 50.4% of the total adult population. More than 83 million adults, or 32.5% of the total adult population, are fully vaccinated with one of the three vaccines approved in the USA.

Johns Hopkins University data reached the milestone one day after the worldwide death toll from the virus reached 3 million people.

In the US, daily new cases of Covid-19 remain high nationwide. The country reports an average of about 68,000 new infections every day. CDC data show an average of 3.3 million daily vaccine doses administered over the past week.

White House Covid-19 coordinator Jeff Zients said the break in Johnson & Johnson vaccinations, which took place after reports of six cases of rare blood clots in the brain, would not delay the vaccine campaign because the country have enough stock of Pfizer and Modern vaccines. .

Anthony Fauci, White House chief medical adviser, said Sunday he thinks the U.S. is likely to resume use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine with a warning or restriction, and expects a decision as early as Friday, when the CDC ‘s vaccination advisory panel meets to discuss again.

“My estimate is that we will continue to use it in some form,” Fauci said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I seriously doubt if they’ll just cancel it. I do not think it’s going to happen.”
