DETROIT With the announcement that six new vaccination clinics will open at the beginning of this week, some seniors – such as 83-year-old Janice Coutilish – are wondering if this is finally their chance to get the vaccine.
ORIGINAL STORY: Wayne County Announces New Elderly Vaccination Clinics
“I really talked to a number of ladies, especially that each of them indicated that they were all waiting,” Coutilish said. “I think it will definitely be in everyone’s favor.”
Starting Tuesday, the free clinics that include Melvindale, Romulus, the city of Wayne, Canton Township and Plymouth will be at one faculty along with Highland Park and Hamtramck. Elderly people should contact the nearest faculty to make an appointment.

“Until now, especially in the Wayne community, everything was located in the Detroit area, with very few elsewhere,” Coutilish said. “I’m hopeful they’ll spread it a little bit now.”
So far, Wayne County has given more than 36,601 vaccines. Only 13,000 are planned for this week alone. Coutilish just wants to keep going and get it right.
“We waited a whole year. We kind of followed all the rules, and we were just patient and now everyone is anxious, ‘Coutilish concluded. “Everyone is just anxious, but six would help, I think.”
Note: Remember again, these vaccines are for residents in the specific communities only.

“Every vaccinated resident brings us closer to ending the pandemic,” Evans said. ‘I would also like to thank the State of Michigan for its cooperation with Wayne County in ensuring that we have more doses to vaccinate our elderly faster. The vaccine distribution process is limited by the available vaccine – of which no one gets enough – but Wayne County puts shots as fast as we get it. ”
