Gymnasium, Christian school, fined for violations of the safety of COVID-19

Ten more businesses are being cited for a lack of pandemic precautions in the workplace, according to a news release from the Michigan Occupational Health and Safety Administration on Friday, January 22nd.

The workplaces violate COVID-19 safety measures such as not having a contingency plan, not putting on masks or not cleaning and disinfecting the facility.

To date, 67 companies have been cited by MIOSHA for breaches of the safety of COVID-19. The Michigan Liquor Control Commission and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services also punish businesses that do not follow health orders.

MIOSHA can fine businesses up to $ 7,000 per violation.

Employers must provide proof to MIOSHA that the problems have been rectified. Workplaces have 15 working days after receiving the offense to dispute the citation, or may enter into an agreement to reduce the dangers of a 50% reduction in fines, provided they do not appeal.

Employers and employees with questions about COVID-19 workplace policy can call the MIOSHA hotline at 855-723-3219. To file a workplace complaint, go to Michigan.gov/MIOSHAcomplaint.

Most of the inspections that led to the ten quotes were caused by complaints from MIOSHA employees. Six of the ten quotes also contain fines.
