Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that she contracted COVID-19 early in the pandemic and has persistent symptoms.
According to the researchers, this will place the Oscar-winning actor “Shakespeare In Love” among the 10% of coronavirus patients.
In a recent post titled “Healing My Body For A Longer-Term Detox” on her GOOP lifestyle website, Paltrow casually dropped the revelation following an introduction to cleaning up her diet.
“A little background: I had COVID-19 early, and it left me with a bit of long-tail fatigue and brain fog,” she wrote. “In January, I had some tests done that showed very high levels of inflammation in my body.”
Paltrow said she consulted a practitioner with functional medicine who told her ‘the road to healing is going to be longer than usual’ and put her on a keto and plant-based plan. The “Iron Man” star spent much of the rest of her article hawking products on her GOOP website.
Long-distance testing is negative for the disease, but its impact remains. “This condition can affect anyone – young and old, otherwise healthy people and those struggling with other conditions,” according to UC-Davis Health. “It has been seen in those admitted to hospital with COVID-19 and in patients with very mild symptoms.”
